About us![]() Brief History Dales Traditional Butchers Ltd is situated in the picturesque market town of Kirkby Lonsdale in the Lune Valley. The premises has been a Butcher's shop for approximately 100 years and in the Dale family for 3 generations before brothers Colin and Wilf Dale decided to retire. In 1999 Mark Duckworth took over the shop, becoming very proud to continue the butchering tradition and keep the name of his predecessors. Mark has over 25 years experience working in the butchery trade. He started out at his local butchers shop in Langho, Blackburn at the age of 13 back in 1984. His duties were mainly cleaning but has since gained many qualifications in the trade. He was awarded YTS Trainee of the Year at the age of 17 and was one of the first butchers in the country to gain the Meat Managers Certificate in HACCP. After gaining ample experience at the abbatoir, cutting plants and in retail, Mark became a manager of a farm shop where he began baking pies and has since boosted his reputation by winning awards for his pies and sausages which are all still traditionally made by hand on the premises. Dales Traditional Butchers Ltd know the importance of selling top quality produce at very competitive prices which is why we source our meat from local farmers. This also promotes low food mileage to reduce carbon emissions and contributes to the sustainability of the local area. We are a completely independent butchers shop and believe the sign of quality cannot be bought therefore our reputation for quality relies entirely on customer satisfaction. |
